I
have now added the main contents of the page, helped in to understand what it
will look like when done. I have put the page number and band name in bigger
font so the reader can easily find what they want and where it will be.

Ashes double page spread 3 draft changes
I
have changed the layout a bit and added another column making the middle ones
the same size which improves the double page spread presentation, I also
started to add the questions for the interview to give me an idea of how it
will fit on the page.

Ashes front cover 2nd draft changes
I
have now replaced the black spaces with the pictures from my draft just as
place holders so I could get an idea of how my magazine would look when filled
out, I have also removed the end part of the black banner to create more space
therefore I can move the smaller stories up so they can include more without interfering
with the pictures. I edited the colour scheme so it looked nicer and wasn’t so
dull on the page and blending in with the background.
Ashes double page spread draft 2 changes
Since
making my 2nd draft I have only made a couple of changes I decided to change my
colour scheme slightly as my new colour scheme uses a better blend of colours
and fluently changes between them. I also went back to using the black title as
it stands out more than the on with the colour scheme blend.
Ashes contents page 2nd draft changes
For my contents page I have used a similar layout to music
magazines in the same genre, I have the contents on the left third and images
on the right side, the changes I have made to my first draft are I have changed
the colour scheme and divided the left third into sections, this makes the
colours blend better, I have added subheadings to the contents to divide them
into two parts one for new news and one for content that is in every month, I
also added a bottom section for contact details and social media details, I
made the bottom picture and got rid of the darker one because the page needed
more colour.

Ashes Front cover 1st draft changes
For
the front page of my magazine I used my draft as inspiration, the main picture
was the background, I used a singular column for my left third with three parts
for 3 main articles, I have kept the colour scheme with the left column and the
magazine name. I have used a better font for the name of the magazine which I
feel suits the genre of the magazine better, I also have kept the space for 3
small articles on the right hand side.
Ashes double page spread - 1st draft changes
When
making the double page spread I first inserted the background image I wanted
and made a title which would interest the reader, I also added a section for
the interview. At first i made the title black as it would stand out against
the background, I also compare my first draft to another double page spread of
a different magazine and realised I needed to change the layout and add more columns,
I also have used the bands logo for easy recognition by the reader. When making
changes to my first copy I realised that I hadn’t followed my colour scheme
throughout the magazine.

Cover and contents page research
The front cover of a magazine is very important. For example, when soemone walks past the magazines in a shop, the magazine cover which catches their eye the most is most likely the one that they will want to buy. When the customer looks at the cover more carefully, it is important to have the contents on display on the cover, that way the customer knows what he/she will read about inside. The cover of a magazine is like a one shot chance for the company to make their arguement about why you should buy it.
The purpose of a contents page is to give the reader an idea of other stories/ information within the magazine and what page numbers you can find it on.
